Post Three

The theme of my newsweek article is mainly about child molesters, and how they effect society. If people are lead to believe that they are all over our internet, talking to children all the time, they will begin to fear the internet. This is a bad result, the internet is safe if you allow it to be. If you are smart about it and make sure your children are smart about it, then they will know better than to talk to some stranger.

From a source on the Internet, it is estimated that at least two out of every ten girls and one out of every ten boys are sexually abused by the end of their 13th year. Most children who are sexually abused, are abused by a family members or close friends. "Stranger danger," by comparison, is quite rare. If you want to help stop the molestation, start by learning the facts. Tell children the dangers of the Internet, but also tell them the dangers of those around them.

This article was about the “To Catch a Predator” series on NBC. It talks about how the show deals with catching child molesters in the act. Chris Hansen, the star of the show, tells people that at any given moment 50,000 potential child molesters are prowling the Internet. This is something to be worried about, but at the same time these statements have no hard statistics backing them. People all over fear these predators and think that because of them the entire Internet is Evil.

My First Post

Hello, my name is Greta. I have two sisters, one of which is my twin, and one brother. I am the youngest in my family and think it pretty much sucks. I have a dog, she is absolutly adorable, but she drives me nuts. I spend most of my time playing video games and watching movies. Music is my life. I love playing poker and think it is the best card game ever. I also work about 30 hours a week, and go to school just about every day.
